Responsibilities

The Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation was established by the Government of the Republic of Serbia’s Decision on Establishment of the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation (Official Gazette of RS, No. 73/04) for development, counselling, research and other activities related to preschool, primary and secondary education.

The responsibilities of the Institute are prescribed by the Law on the Education System Foundations (Official Gazette No. 72/09, 52/11 and 88/2017), which, in Article 43, states that the Institute performs professional tasks in the field of monitoring and evaluating the level of achievement of general principles, education goals, and learning outcome standards by levels and types of education, as well as other tasks in line with the law, founding act and its statute.

The Institute referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article comprises the following organisational units:

1)      Centre for Quality Assurance in the Work of Educational Institutions

2)      Centre for Examinations

3)      Centre for International and National Examinations, Development, and Research Activities

4)      Centre for Educational Technology

The Institute prescribes the procedures for ensuring confidentiality and handling of data during the examination preparation process, as well as the procedures for the use and archiving of data obtained from conducted international and national examinations. 

The Institute is obliged to publish a report on the results of national and international examinations and research, as well as national reports on the external evaluation of the quality of work of institutions, within 30 days from the date of the report’s completion.
