On 16 October 2025, a meeting was held with representatives of 20 primary school participating in the project “Support for Developing Mechanisms to Improve School Work Quality”. Alongside UNICEF and Institute, the meeting was attended by heads of departments and advisors from the Ministry of Education.
School principals and coordinators were introduced to the planned activities, implementation timeline, and expected project outcomes.

The project’s specific aim is to foster professional learning communities – shifting from school as sites of individual work to schools as organisations that learn, grow, and progress collectively. This approach promotes professional collaboration, shared responsibility for student progress and teaching quality, and a culture of collegiality, critical reflection, and continuous professional development.

A key component of the project is the development of horizontal learning, both within and between schools. School coordinators in particular play a vital role in the process of horizontal learning by supporting activities and organising peer learning based on thematic scenarios.
In addition to training and supporting materials, the school will receive mentoring throughout the project, which concludes with a thematic evaluation of the areas “Teaching and Learning” and “Student Support”.
This initiative continues the joint efforts of UNICEF and the Institute on strengthening a culture of quality in schools and building a system that encourages learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
