A delegation from the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation of the Republic of Serbia paid a working visit to the State Examination Centre of the Republic of North Macedonia in Skopje, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the field of national testing and the state matura (national graduation examination). The visit was organised as part of the ongoing efforts of both institutions to improve the processes of evaluating and monitoring the quality of education at the national level.
During the meeting, the hosts presented examples of good practice in the development of tests for national assessments and matura examinations, as well as solutions related to test marking, distribution procedures and the use of statistical instruments. Special attention was given to the methodology for preparing national reports and surveys, as well as to the ways in which test results are used to inform and improve education policy.
The hosts also provided a detailed overview of the implementation of the state matura in North Macedonia, including the stages of preparation, administration and dissemination of results. Members of the Institute’s delegation were introduced to the challenges faced by the Examination Centre during the integration of the tests into the school system, as well as to the mechanisms used to present the strengths and weaknesses of student performance.
The long‑standing cooperation between the two institutions will continue in the areas of international research, standardisation and the evaluation of the education process, as well as in the improvement of regulations and other policy documents in the field of education and upbringing.
