From September 4 to 7, 2025, Professor Dr Boris Stojkovski, Director, and Dr Milan Gromovic, Deputy Director, of the Institute, conducted an official visit to key educational institutions in Banja Luka and Istočno Sarajevo, Republika Srpska.
At the meeting with the Pedagogical Institute of the Republika Srpska, new and enhanced cooperation protocols were established, focusing on educational reform and joint efforts in curriculum development, textbook production, school documentation, and academic achievement standards.
An agreement was reached to organise seminars, consultations, and training sessions for the implementation of the final exam at the end of primary education – “mala matura” across the Republika Srpska. In the coming year, pilot testing of final-year primary school students is expected to integrate the final exam into the legal framework and implement it according to the model used in the Republic of Serbia, aligned with the highest European and global educational standards.
Further plans were defined for joint publishing and distribution of educational materials, including manuals for reading and mathematical literacy, as well as a specialised handbook for school and education process self-evaluation.
A key topic of discussion with the Director of the Pedagogical Institute was strengthening cooperation in the field of digital competencies, particularly in the practical and theoretical implementation of the “Digital World” subject. The talks also covered professional development for educators, advisers, and inspectors from the Republika Srpska, including their exposure to best practices from the Serbian education system.
Working groups were formed to prepare training and lectures related to the final exam, with activities scheduled to begin in the second half of October this year.
During the visit to the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids, a copublishing agreement was reached to develop publications aimed at improving the quality of education in primary and secondary schools in both the Republika Srpska and the Republic of Serbia.
The visit to the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Istočno Sarajevo Pale marked the beginning of long-term cooperation with the Institute in organising professional and academic conferences in the fields of science, culture, and education, as well as in exchanging experiences in teaching and research.
Following the meetings and the drafting of cooperation agreements, the Director of the Institute and the Director of the Pedagogical Institute of the Republic of Srpska presented future collaboration plans on the Morning Program of Radio Television of the Republika Srpska.
