The forum, organised on the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria, and hosted by the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Plovdiv, brought together, in addition to representatives from Serbia, participants from the education systems of North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro.

The main theme of the forum focused on key challenges and opportunities for improving the quality of education systems in the Balkan-Caucasus region. Particular attention was given to contemporary education reforms, as well as strengthening systems for evaluating the quality of teaching. Dr Gromović presented Serbia’s experience in international studies such as PIRLS, ICCS, and TALIS, while offering cooperation and exploring the potential for expanded participation in additional international research.

During bilateral meetings, Dr Gromović held discussions with Valentin Petrushenko, the forum coordinator, on opportunities for comparative analysis and further alignment of Serbia’s education system with European and international standards.

Special emphasis was placed on the application of best educational practices from across Europe and globally, as well as on improving models for evaluation and self-evaluation of education quality.

The Institute’s participation in this forum represents a further step towards strengthening international cooperation and exchange of knowledge in the field of education policy and practice.
