On Monday, 13 July, a working meeting was held at the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation with the Mathematical Society of Serbia. The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr Milan Gromović, Deputy Director of the Institute, and the Society was represented by Prof. Dr Zorana Lužanin of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, and Prof. Dr Nebojša Ikodinović of the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade.
The discussion focused on the forthcoming intensified cooperation between the Institute and the Society, which will include the preparation of a Cooperation Agreement, joint participation in projects, and the development of national documents, standards, and manuals in the field of education.
A special topic of the meeting concerned levels of mathematical literacy in Serbia, Europe, and worldwide, including initial ideas for further research that could support the creation of measures to improve student achievement in the Final Exam and enhance the overall level of mathematical literacy in the country.
Representatives of the Mathematical Society of Serbia presented advice, suggestions, and possible directions for more intensive cooperation with the Institute, particularly in the area of national and international research. The meeting concluded with an agreement on the next steps in preparing the Cooperation Agreement and continuing joint work.
