Memorandum of Cooperation signed with North Macedonia’s State Examination Centre

As part of its continued efforts to expand and strengthen regional cooperation, the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with North Macedonia’s State Examination Centre in Skopje on 18 September 2026. The document was signed by Danijela Jovcevska Mihajlovska, Director of the State Examination Centre, and Professor Boris Stojkovski, Acting Director of the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation.

The two institutions agreed to exchange experience relating to international studies in which Serbia and North Macedonia participate and to organise joint meetings in this area.

An important aspect of the Memorandum is the joint submission of applications for international projects in education and in areas falling within the respective mandates of the two institutions, in cooperation with other relevant stakeholders. The Memorandum also provides for the joint organisation and preparation of seminars, conferences, round tables and other events.

As teaching in both countries is conducted in several languages, the exchange of experience and comparison of the two education systems in this area will provide another important and practical form of cooperation. A visit to Serbia by a delegation from the State Examination Centre, including a visit to the Institute, has also been agreed and is expected to take place in the near future.

The Memorandum with North Macedonia’s State Examination Centre continues the Institute’s broader regional cooperation. The Institute has for some time maintained close cooperation with the Republic Pedagogical Institute of Republika Srpska, including through the exchange of knowledge, experience and professional support. In addition, the Institute signed an agreement with the Examination Centre of Montenegro in Podgorica in June.

Such cooperation is important not only for the exchange of experience, but also for the opportunity to develop joint regional projects and apply a comparative approach in international research.

The Institute will continue to strengthen regional and international cooperation and apply examples of good practice within Serbia’s education system, in line with the Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Serbia by 2030 and within its statutory responsibilities and institutional remit.
