The final examination at the end of primary education represents one of the most important milestones in a student’s educational pathway. Examination results influence admission to secondary school, but also students’ confidence and motivation in the next phase of their schooling. High-quality and timely preparation is therefore of fundamental importance to both students and schools.

A delegation of the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation, led by Director Prof Dr Boris Stojkovski and Deputy Director Dr Milan Gromovic, visited Subotica and held meetings with the leadership of the primary schools “Jovan Mikic” and “Matko Vukovic”. At “Jovan Mikic” Primary School, discussions were held with Principal Danijel Barovic and Assistant Principal Darinka Maksimovic, while at “Matko Vukovic” Primary School, the delegation met with Principal Mirjana Stevanovic.

The meetings focused on strengthening preparatory teaching for the final examination, as well as enhancing cooperation in national and international research. Particular emphasis was placed on the transition of Year 8 students from primary to secondary education, recognising the final examination as a key point in that process. It was concluded that systematic and intensive preparation, combined with consistent work using collections of tasks and test materials, can contribute to improved student achievement in Serbian (or mother tongue), Mathematics, and the elective subjects: chemistry, physics, history, biology, and geography.

School representatives also presented a wide range of curricular and extracurricular activities, as well as notable achievements at national and international competitions, seminars, and projects.
The delegation also visited the Secondary Medical School in Subotica, where discussions were held with teacher Ana Rudic and Principal Natalija Trbovic Toljagic regarding future cooperation within international research initiatives and projects. Particular attention was given to exploring further opportunities for developing the concept of dual education within specific vocational profiles and aligning curricula with the needs of professional practice.
Cooperation between the Institute and schools aims to provide systemic support to students at key moments in their educational journey, from the final examination to their further educational and professional orientation.
