The Deputy Director of the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation and Coordinator for Cooperation with Republika Srpska, Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia, Assistant Professor Dr Milan Gromović, paid a working visit to SPKD “Prosvjeta” – City Committee Mostar. On this occasion, he met with President Sanja Bjelica Šagovnović to discuss potential directions of cooperation between the Institute and this important organisation for the local community.
The central topic of the meeting was the development of a handbook for the needs of the Prosvjeta School of Serbian language, history and culture, as well as the Institute’s support in evaluating the quality of Serbian language teaching, which is organised every Saturday during the school year. Improving the quality of this teaching has been recognised as a shared priority.
The Prosvjeta School is well organised and currently has more than one hundred pupils of various ages from the territory of Mostar and nearby villages. During the discussion, it was emphasised that this is an exceptionally important educational resource for the Serbian community, one that requires systematic support and continuous improvement of teaching materials, methodology and professional capacities.
In the coming period, the Institute will intensify cooperation with the Institute for Education of Republika Srpska, with the aim of jointly improving the quality of teaching in smaller Serbian communities within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This cooperation includes the exchange of professional expertise, support for teachers, the development of handbooks and teaching materials, as well as the enhancement of teaching evaluation processes.
The Prosvjeta School of Serbian language, history, and culture operates within SPKD “Prosvjeta” – City Committee Mostar and is dedicated, among other activities, to organising supplementary classes and workshops for Serbian children and youth. As one of the key activities of “Prosvjeta”, the Serbian language school serves as a cornerstone of the community’s educational and cultural life, and cooperation with the Institute will contribute to its further development and strengthening.
