A workshop within the EU4SORS project – Development of a Modern Statistical System was held in Vrnjacka Banja from 8 to 12 September 2025, organised by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
The event brought together representatives of state institutions, academia, and chambers of commerce, with the aim of developing a unified system for decision support at the national level. As noted by the Acting Director of the Statistical Office, Branko Josipović, reliable and integrated data represent “the foundation of a modern state and the strongest support for every decision-maker.”
The workshop featured presentations on plans for developing a statistical population register, the use of indices and indicators, as well as new tools for data visualisation and analysis. Special attention was given to the potentials and risks of applying indices in education and other sectors.
The project, implemented as part of European initiatives, is scheduled for completion by 2027. It is expected to facilitate institutional access to reliable information and improve the interconnectivity of state systems.
“We consider this workshop highly significant, as it provided clearer insights into the current state, needs, opportunities for development, networking, improvement, and data management capabilities within the Institute,” said Srđan Zrnić and Predrag Mišić, participating representatives of the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation.
